As part of the city of Pittsburgh’s endeavor to rebuild some of the downtown areas, PNC Financial Services Group Inc. selected Astorino and Gensler to design a 650,000 SF, 23-story high-rise. The building is located on the Fifth and Forbes corridor and consist of: 30 luxury residential condominiums, an upscale, 185-room luxury hotel, hospitality, spa and conference-related support space for the hotel, an underground, 285-space parking garage, and 361,000 SF of office space, of which the law firm of Reed Smith is expected to occupy 200,000 SF.
The goal is to produce an aesthetically pleasing and technologically advanced building, with a tight, $170 million budget. With the goal of LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification in mind, the team will use state-of-the-art strategies for sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality. The project not only enhances the architectural landscape of downtown, but also open doors for local employment opportunities. |
