Bakery Square at Eastside
Pittsburgh, PA
Project Type: New Construction and Adaptive Reuse
Project Cost: 110 Million

Astorino is providing planning, architectural, engineering and landscape design services for the development of a new premier mixed-use lifestyle center, Bakery Square at Eastside. The anchor office building was formerly a Nabisco plant built in 1917, and plans for the $110 million renovation project include 380,000 square feet of office and retail space, 120 hotel rooms and a 800-space parking garage. Astorino is designing a vibrant, state-of-the-art community space that will offer shopping, dining, fitness, office space, hotel and parking in one exciting location.

Having chosen a previously developed site and adaptively reusing an existing building, give the project inherently sustainable qualities such as community connectivity, access to public transportation and reduce in demolition waste. With the goal of LEEDŽ Certification in mind, the design also considers issues of stormwater management, energy efficiently, HVAC systems, day-lighting, and on-site renewable energy.
