Florida Gulf Coast University - Environmental Demonstration Laboratory
Ft. Myers, FL
Project Type: Architectural Design/Construction Documents
Project Cost: TBD
The new WCI Green Building Demonstration & Learning Center at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) will provide training and the oppurtunity to increase awareness of sustainable design issues at the local, state and national levels. With a goal of LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification, this facility will be a practical example of sustainable design. Working in collaboration with WCI, FGCU, Trifecta Construction, TLC Engineering, TKW Consuling Engineers, and CCP, Astorino is providing architecture, interior design, and construction document management services for the new WCI Green Building. The U-shaped building, wrapped around a courtyard, will provide space for environmental programs to coordinate sustainable activities within the region, including classrooms, offices, and a video theater. Designs call for the use of recycled materials such as flooring and wall materials, energy efficient building systems, shading, solar control, and rainwater re-use. |
